You Sly Devil
Every time I hear people saying that Sylvester Stallone can't act, I'm inclined to want to believe them. I think it's the dead sounding voice of his, that thick accent that he's never worked to get rid of. However, there are two movies of his where he is at the top of his game. In action films, he's the same, whether the hero or the villain. However, in comedy he is great in OSCAR and in drama he is fantastic in COP LAND.
The movie has shady dealings going down all around, people who are into the wrong things and not really giving a sh*t about the law since the law is Stallone. Only he's not the guy that he normally would be in an action movie playing a cop. Instead he's softer (having gained a bunch of weight for the role) and talks slower and more deliberately. There is something to his performance which really illustrates how this is a broken man. You believe it.
Filled with a cast full of high profile actors and yet a bomb at the box office for reasons unknown to me, this movie only suffers from a touch of melodrama. By the time you hit the end though, you're not going to care. You'll get quietly sucked in my Sly and forget that he was Rocky, Rambo or anyone else.
A great movie.

| Sly can act, write, and direct he might not be the best at any but he has been around long enough to earn respect. |

| I only saw this for the first time the other day, and it was great from start to finish. On a different note, I had no idea that Sly wrote the screenplay for Rocky- it came in towards the tail end of a list of hundred greatest screenplays. |
