Movie Review by Lisa

I do love Shakespeare, and for other fans of good ole Will you'll either love or loathe Baz Luhrmann's interpretation of Shakespeare's most famous Play.

Personally I loved it, even though it was clearly geared toward the MTV kids it still retained its integrity by sticking to the original dialogue. Baz Luhrman took away the swords replaced them with gun and brought the two feuding families into this century by making them corporate big wigs, and combining this with Luhrmann's creative visuals and all-star cast what's not to love.

Claire Danes really impressed me as Juliet she was what like 16 when she made this film and she handled the dialogue better than some seasoned actors, DiCaprio did equally well but the other stand out performances came from Pete Postlethwaite (of whom a I'm a big fan) as the Friar and Paul Sorvino.

Two big thumbs up for the Aussie Baz Luhrmann, this was an entertaining attempt at a great play.

It's a shame that Danes has never really been able to do much else other than pucker up and be emo. It worked well here, but I haven't found her even remotely interesting in any of her other work.

I love this movie. I'm a big Baz Luhrmann fan. Is he doing anything new? I haven't looked it up.
Zara's right, I was hoping for more from Claire Danes after a role like this.

Yeah me too but her career just kinda fell flat with a bunch of forgettable movies, Igby goes down was good but not because of her performance....tis a shame she looked so promising.
