Makes me remember Bi-Boy

There was buzz about this movie on the back pages of entertainment magazines for weeks before it was released anywhere remotely close to where I was living. I needed to drive to Santa Barbara, about a half hour away from where I lived at the time in order to see it in an old art house theater than still had balcony seating. I think experiences like that all still add up to why going to the movies will always trump just sitting around and watching them at home, no matter how good your surround sound system is.

This is a strange movie about a strange little girl, the female version and precursor to Napoleon Dynomite and yet without the clean, PG rating. It was willing to take things a hell of a lot further than Dynomite ever did, including scenes with the school bully threatening to rape the geek in question.

Yet for all of the bizarre and uncomfortable tones about this movie, there's something in it that everyone can relate to. sh*t, even as I sit here thinking about it, it occurs to me just how much of the premise and overall feeling of this movie was ripped off by Dynomite.

And considering that there are people who don't like that movie and don't get it, I would suggest that you watch this one instead. It's darker, it's meaner and it just scores in a way that leaves you feeling dirty afterward.

I can't really explain this movie because it isn't one of the ones that can be explained. Sure, I could give you the break-down on what happens in it, but that's stupid. What I can say is that I consider this to be one of the movies out there in the world that everyone should watch, just to have added it to their mental catalog.

This movie creeped me out. I don't understand why you liked it so much.

I thought Dynomite was just stupid. I must be one of those that didn't get it despite two tries. I'll look for this one.

This film was brilliant. It showed the darkest parts of being a 12 to 16 kid who is seen as the outkast. The turn the bully takes is so typical teenager *Spoiler Warning* when you see that he actually likes her but in his neanderthal adolescent way can't express his feelings in a constructive manner.

The reactions that the audience has to the little girl and the reactions that everyone else has to the girl are typical of those you don't understand what it's like to not be mainstream in your line of thinking.

The movie is so underatted.
