Movie Review by Movie Addict

Favorite Movie Quote: "Something's happening that's taking our children away."

Atom Egoyan got Academy Awards nominations for directing and hid screenplay. How I missed that is a wonder, but the wonder is this film, which really is amazing.

To base a story involving real people in a small town o the Pied Piper was a stoke of genius, and Egoyan pulled it off in a flawless story of how a tragic accident and a greedy ambulance chaser (Ian Holm) affects this small village.

The interesting thing about this film about love and loneliness is how flawed the characters were. There is adultery and incest, just like everywhere else, and this affects the outcome in ways that are surprising.

Sarah Polley was the most interesting actor in the film and she really brought home something I have always believed. Money can't help you get on with your life after a tragedy, you just have to make up your mind to get on with it.

Great film. Worth multiple viewings.

This was one depressing film but I really liked Sarah Polley's performance here so I gave it two thumbs up.
