Best Contact

You're probably only going to like this movie if you're a Star Trek fan. If you have sci-fi inclinations, however, give this movie a try. It's my absolute favorite of all the Star Trek films. Troi gets drunk, myths get revealed, there are Borg, Moby Dick is alluded to (but not in a way that would require you to have read it), and we remember everything we love about Sci-Fi--the questions. Why do we reach for other things? What would it take for us to be peaceful? How did we react when we first figured out that there are others species out there.
The best part of the movie, by far, is James Cromwell as the inventor of the warp drive.
