Movie Review by Emily
February 7th, 2007

Wow, in this drama about four friends who accidentally commit a life changing crime and end up in a home for boys as punishment is powerful and thought provoking. When four teenage boys commit a crime, they find themselves sentenced to a year+ in a boys home, where their only guidance is their friendly, and sympathetic priest, father Bobby (Robert DeNiro). While in the home, they face horrors that are unthinkable at that age. Bam! fast forward, the charming Brad Renfro has become Brad Pitt, Joseph Perrino becomes Jason Patric, Geofrey Wigdor becomes Ron Eldard, Jonathan Tucker becomes Billy Crudup, and Robert DeNiro doesn't look a day older. The friends come up with a plan beyond my belief to get the revenge that they seek.

This chilling movie was a good, but heavy watch. all of the acting was superb, from the young children to the adults, including Brad Pitt, who I normally can't stand. Kevin Bacon gave a bone chilling preformance that made you want to hurt him. Joseph Parrino and Brad Renfro gave the best of the young preformances, causing a strong feeling of truth in the roles that would come as quite the challenge. Jason Patric is an excellent narrator of the story, and he carries what I believe to be the male lead extremely well. There is no need to say that DeNiro gives an amazing and compassionate preformance as the all understanding, all willing priest, and Dustin Hoffman gives an amuzing preformance as an alcoholic lawyer who is clearly not ready for the case that he is given. In all, I would reccommend this movie if you can handle lightly disturbing aspects of film.
