Little Known Gem

Troubled kids who misbehave only need a couple of dedicated teachers to get them back on track right?

Well, in the real world that might not happen, but in the movies it tends to happen all the time. However, when you factor in that this movie is based on some real events it starts to give you hope.

A group of not-so-bright and troubled teens (including a young Casey Affleck and Eliza Dushku) get involved in a project to build a solar powered vehicle. Because most of the other schools have a great deal of funding, they are surviving simply on the plucky nature of the participants.

As cheesy and after-school-special as this all sounds, I found the story to be somewhat original. Not many movies are about promoting a better environment. And not many movies will feature a fat Samoan dude finishing out a solar-powered vehicle race.

The movie is simple, but it's inspiring. What more could you possibly ask for?
