Orlando (1996)

Feminist Classic
Directed by Sally Potter ('The Man Who Cried', 'Thriller'), this is a captivating film starring Tilda Swinton wherein a man is 'cursed' by Queen Elizabeth I to live forever without aging. Orlando lives for 200 years as a man and then 200 years as a woman. The film forces you to see how much one's gender dictates the way one is percieved, and the ability one has to function. Orlando is always Orlando, man or woman. Swinton is fascinating to watch and utterly convincing in either sex.
