The Price is Wrong......b*tch!
Favorite Movie Quote's for : Happy Gilmore
Shooter McGavin: Just stay out of my way or you'll pay, listen to what I say.
Happy Gilmore: Hey, why don't I just go and eat some hay. I can lay by the bay, make things out of clay, I just may, what'd ya say?
Chubbs: They never let me play on the pro tour.
Happy Gilmore: Oh I'm sorry Because your black?
Chubbs: HELL no. Damn alligator bit my hand off!
Happy Gilmore: OH MY GOD!
I could almost list the whole script for favorite quotes.....really a ton of great dialogue and one liners. What makes this movie great is with no doubt the cast. The writer which co-wrote with Sandler is Tim Herlihy, has also wrote almost every funny / comedy that Sandler has been in including Billy Madison, Big Daddy and The Waterboy.
The cast: First off I don't think Sandler's Happy Gilmore was the best character performance in the film. I think Gilmore was funny as sh*t but I enjoyed the nemesis a little more. The arch enemy of Gilmore is his competition in the golf tournaments. This would be Shooter McGavin played by Christopher McDonald.
Christopher McDonald although acting since 1978 and having a film career with over 125 film and television performances seemed to just never catch his big break. I have seen him in a few things but to me I could not see anyone else playing Shooter McGavin like McDonald.
Then to top it off Apollo Creed otherwise known in the movie as Chubbs Peterson (played by Carl Weathers) is Happy's golfing instructor. You have former The Price is Right game show host Bob Barker even at the age of 73 was kicking Sandler's ass. Also another very small but STRONG funny as hell performance was Ben Stiller as the orderly at the nursing home that gives Grandma Gilmore such a hard time with the whole "You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up."
Also for you James Bond fans, Richard Kiel who played one of Bond's toughest enemies ever called Jaws was Mr. Larson in Happy Gilmore the 7' 2" tall man that gave Shooter a hard time every time he took a shot.
This is really one of those timeless comedies that will be around for many years to come and follow in the footsteps as the comedy classics Spaceballs, Revenge of the Nerds, Dumb and Dumber and many others that you never get tired of popping into your DVD player and watching. I wish Sandler would go back to his roots and realize that he is best in comedy.
