You Think You Like Indies?
I hate to give any of this movie away. One of my all-time faves, it's one that you need to experience for yourself. The directorial debut of Wes Anderson, childhood friend to the Wilson brothers, BOTTLE ROCKET far outweighs his other ventures. So even if you liked RUSHMORE or thought that THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS was the sh*t, you might actually defecate yourself when you watch this flick.
One of the main complaints that I hear whenever I recommend this movie is that there seems to be an upsurge of Owen Wilson haters. I loathe when it becomes popular to hate someone or something "just because." (Yes, I listen to Ashlee Simpson and I like the b*tch. Ooooo.... Deal with it.) When I force these supposed OW haters to watch BOTTLE ROCKET, one of the funniest things occurs: their faces shrivel up and they get that look of a person who doesn't want to admit that they were wrong. That's right, even the OW haters actually like (and sometimes love) him in this flick.
So, nevermind the plot, the story or any of the finer details. So what if there's tape on my nose.
