ROY ROGERS RIDES AGAIN
Released in 1942 - HEART OF THE GOLDEN WEST stars ROY ROGERS, one of my all-time favorite Movie-Cowboys. Always such a pleasant-natured fellow - This is certainly one of ROGERS' more enjoyable and lively 'modern-day' Westerns.
In HEART OF THE GOLDEN WEST, ROY, along with Smiley, Gabby, and The Sons Of The Pioneers, all undertake to help protect the ranchers of Cherokee City from unjust charges levied against them for transporting cattle to the stock yards of packing houses.
When crooked trucking executive, Ross Lambert, doubles his shipping rates, ROY tries to convince Colonel Silas Popen to run his trusty, old riverboat up to Cherokee City and transport the cattle this way.
Lambert and his shifty henchman, Cully Bronson, intercept ROY's message to the Colonel that's being sent over the telegraph wire. To make matters worse, Lambert starts a vicious campaign to make ROY and his gang appear lawless and wild in hopes that Popen will refuse his riverboat for the cattle transporting.
As an added bit of nastiness, Bronson sets fire to Popen's riverboat and rustles all of the cattle into a hidden, underground cave that's covered by a waterfall.
ROY's girl, Mary-Lou, discovers Bronson's 'cattle-rustling' lair. And, soon enough, ROY and his boys shoot it out with the Lambert Gang.
All-In-All - HEART OF THE GOLDEN WEST is a very entertaining Western with plenty of fast-paced action and 'hard hitting' brawling.
And, from ROY ROGERS and TRIGGER, the Wonder Horse - It's - "Happy Trails To You."
