Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 5th, 2008

Lame-O

This flick tries to be cutting edge in its depiction of virtual reality and the turn of the century (5 years before it turned); however, instead it is your run of the mill wannabe modern noir that takes 2 and a half hours to tell a story that could have easily been done in 90 minutes.

This extra time is mostly taken up with scenes covering various people, mainly Ralph Fiennes, "wiring" into other people's experiences, and scenes of Juliette Lewis writhing on a stage while singing lame post-grunge, wannabe metal songs.

The best part of this movie is unquestionably Angela Bassett as Fiennes' kickass buddy guard. She is sassy and powerful while also taking control of every situation despite Fiennes' whining over his lost love. Why weren't there more movies with her in the forefront, taking charge? I would watch that.

The end of this movie falls apart in a desperate attempt to be topical, instead it becomes cheesy and drawn out.

Disappointing.

I actually liked this one, not a 5 star movie for sure but I thought that Fiennes, Sizemore and Bassett were all great.
