ANYTHING TO MAKE IT BIG
Favorite Movie Quote: "IT'S A VERSACE!"
Other than some of the actors here who destroy the movie but you can't blame them, obviously they're just bad actors, I really enjoyed this film. You get used to the nudity, and it is too bad that when this movie came out and it was rated NC-17, the nudity was the main topic about the movie.
We all have dreams and some of us will do anything to go after our dreams and to reach our dreams. This is a typical story of a young girl with a nice body who wants to make it big in Vegas, and she wants to dance. There's nothing here that is original and there aren't any surprises here, but of course the infamous rape scene was a bit questionable because, well, it really had nothing to do with the main character.
This is definitely a guilty pleasure and it is one of mine, but I never bought it on DVD only on original VHS when it first came out. Kudos to both Elizabeth Berkley and the lovely sexy, and talented, Gina Gershon for doing nude scenes.
For those many people who trashed this movie and said nothing good about it, personally I think that when it comes to nudity on the screen so many people have issues with that. They do whatever they want behind closed doors in real life, but when they pay to see a movie where there is explicit nudity on the screen, they have issues and they are embarrassed by it, and the critics trash a movie like this one. I say get over it, and besides not all of us are pretty people and born with beauty and great assets, and we all like to look at pretty women in the buff especially movie stars. I like the glitz, the drama, the lighting, the beautiful people in this movie and I enjoyed it when we got to the crux of the movie.
Showgirls is a guilty pleasure of mine with some interesting lines that you will never forget, so I say rent it and keep an open mind and try not to think about the controversy of the movie. Live a little!
