Movie Review by F A B

Throwin ya back

Now everyone bare with me a little cause it's been a little while since the last time I revisited this gritty film noir. Granted the times have changed dramatically since the 50's so there's nothing high tech or ultra fancy....what we are given is pretty cut and dry as is the script. Not to say that's bad, just perhaps a bit dated to my recollection the most noteworthy performances are that of Nick Nolte in the lead role as well as Chazz Palminteri and the highly regarded John Malkovich whom both turn out very convincing portrayls of characters from that era. The premise is a murder mystery that has a classic air to it ala L.A. Confidential....which largely attributed its style to this film in particular. So fans of that genre will be pleased, I only wished that the pace was a little more upbeat to keep my attention more focused on the events taking place. Still I managed to come away feeling satisfied that I had watched this one from start to finish.
