Movie Review by Zara
March 8th, 2007

Mira, Mira, Mira!

If you can get past the shrill voice that she uses, you'll grow to love Mira Sorvino in this character. There's a very good reason why she won that Oscar... she deserved it.

A man in an unhappy marriage adopts a child with his preoccupied wife and then sets about to figure out who the mother of the child was. He becomes obsessed with finding her and then once he discovers that she's an air-head who is very happy with being a call girl and porn actress, he isn't sure what to do. The idea that the mother of his child would be like this appalls him and at the same time he becomes enchanted with her simpleness.

There is a Greek chorus which goes on to explain what's happening during the movie, adding to the feeling that you're watching a melodrama. Personally, I like that. But it's still Mira and her crooked smile and high pitched squeak which completely sell this movie. Well, and the dumbsh*t boxer that Michael Rappaport plays. He's another one of those completely underrated and totally wonderful actors in movies that you tend to forget about but somehow always remember him more than the other characters in sh*tty movies.

Except this is a good movie. Yeah... that's it.

There are so many movies on my need to see list its f*cking ridiculous, I think I'll add this one as I do enjoy a Woody Allen movie and I have always like Mira Sorvino squeaky voice an all.
