Despite what many critics may claim I feel Mallrats was perhaps one Kevin Smith's better movies concerning Jay and Silent Bob. I had seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back before I saw Mallrats so it was an interesting thing to see Jay and Silent Bob in their early misadventures.
Along the way I was introduced to some of the most colorful characters ever.
Kevin Smith has a way of bringing out the unusual aspect of a person's day-to-day life. He reveals the average guy as opposed to the above average character many may be accustomed to. The flaws are more natural and the audience is able to connect more with characters like Brody and T.S. two average guys who have just ogtten dumped and seek refuge in the heart of a perfect symbol of commercial america: the Mall. And so follows the duo's attempts to move on and attempts to rekindle their romances for their girlfriends.
I feel this movie is easier to connect with than any other movie I have really seen. Who can't relate with having a friend like Brody? The comic geek with a colorful language and manor. T.S. the down to earth reliable character. And then you have the friends you wish you had: Jay and Silent Bob.
All in all the movie represents the real world and it is this that makes Mallrats a great comedy. I continue to enjoy it.

| I am Brody, lol. Except I didn't get to have sex with Shannen Doherty in an elevator. KS is one of my favorite directors. |
