Movie Review by Jesse
December 15th, 2006

Very funny at points. Very horrible in others.

A mediocre movie with a large cast. This film was divided into four segments, each of them directed by a different director [Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell, Robert Rogriguez and Quentin Tarantino]. The thing with movies that have short segments is that there is no real plot or character development. Tim Roth plays a bellhop who is on his first night on the job. The hotel's very unusual guests are about to place him in some outrageous predicaments. The first two segments are quite ridiculous compared to the last two. I think it's because the writers/directors of the first two aren't as skilled as the last two. Quentin Tarantino is a master when it comes to writing and Rodriguez is a great director. Their segments overpower the first two which creates an awkward imbalance in the film. Antonio Banderas gives a great and hilarious performance as does Tim Roth. Madonna received such verbal bashing for her performance which I see absolutely nothing wrong with and Marisa Tomei is credited as one of the top performers when she has such a small and useless roll. Bruce Willis goes uncredited in this movie, but it is clearly obvious that it is him when you do see him. All the congratulations goes to Quentin Tarantino on this film because he made it what it is. Too bad for the other segments... They ruined this movie I thought.
