If only it was out when I was at the video store I love the music in this movie. I love the bright colors and the silly characters and the lighthearted comedy. I like that the boss looks like a guy I would have loved to have worked for. I love that the kid who gets caught stealing is named Warren. I love the character of Lucas, played to deadpan, stone faced perfection by Rory Cochran. I love that there are lines in the movie like: "Joe, I can categorically say that you are not a bigger banana-head." Well, maybe that would make more sense if you understood that I have bananas tattooed behind my ears. In any case... I have always considered EMPIRE RECORDS to be a non-guilty pleasure. I'm not guilty that I enjoy it. I love to tell people that I enjoy it. I love to tell them that you can see Renee Zellweger practically nekkid in it. I love to point out how damn good Cochran is and to mention that Liv Tyler is hilarious as a speed freak perfectionist. Yeah, I like the movie. You might like it too. email this review to a friend
