Movie Review by Simon
April 16th, 2007

This is one for the Tales From The Crypt fans- the combination of low-grade horror, B-grade celebrities and tongue-in-cheek humour that Tales From The Crypt perfected in the television series is on display in this fright-flick about a group of people trying to last the night in a dilapidated hotel in a small town.

William Sadler plays the enigmatic Brayker, a man charged with keeping an ancient item out of the hands of evil. Billy Zane is the Collector, Brayker's nemesis and opposite number, come to win the day by any means necessary. Holed up with a collection of misfits, heroes and rogues, Brayker has to keep his head- literally, while outside the Collector unleashes an army of demons.

Bookended by appearances from the Crypt Keeper, the movie is basically one long episode of Tales From The Crypt. It's fun rather than frightening, and it's not meant to be taken too seriously. As the villain of the piece, Zane steals the show while Sadler turns in a suitably battered performance as the reluctant hero. If creature features are your stock in trade, don't give this a miss.
