Movie Review by Steven

I have always wondered if you have a strong, talented cast could the movie be bad. "The American President" has had me thinking about this since I saw it and every time I hear someone talking about it, or see it promoted on TVI still wonder.

A cast that includes Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, MArtin Sheen, and Michael J. Fox may in some sense be the result of a good movie, but the film does have in good performances lacks in story and plot development. It is predictable in every sense.

A beautiful environmental lobbyist (Bening) begins dating the President of the United States (Michael Douglas). Romance blossoms and all he thinks about is sending a meaningless bill for approval (like the real Congress and White House never do that).

You can probably guess what happens next. I told you it is predictable.

I kind of liked this one, its sort of a chick flick but anytime a story is focused around the President of the United States for some reason I get interested.

I'm not normally a Douglas fan, but I must admit that I enjoyed this movie. (Especially when Sheen, playing the vice president here, later went on to being a television president. Cute, ironic, whatever.)
