Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was a big flop at the cinema because so many people gave it bad reviews! i love the film so much and cannot find anything wrong with it at all. the style of the film is beautiful and yet sinister. the fantastic score enhances the style and the actors play the roles brillaintly especially Robert De Niro as the creature. to me it is his finest performance yet. the tale is closest to the novel than any other movie before allthough branagh made a drastic alteration at the end of the movie. WARNING! the rest of what i say is a spoiler!!
after the murder of elizabeth(helana bonham-carter), frankenstein resurects her (like he did with his monster), but sadly she is not the same. she does not remember him or their special dance they had and i think that this scene needed to be there, although it isnt in the original, because it brings victor frankenstein face to face with the horrors that he has done by playing god. it truly reduces me to tears as does frankenstien's monster being cruely rejected by his maker and the rest of civilisation.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is the best adaptation of the novel, infact it improves it by 110%!! i truly recommend this to anyone who likes a good horror and who likes a good cry!!!!!
