Mr Winky, Alive and Well
There were people who considered this very crass movie a family flick. I was working for a video rental store when it was first released on tape and was surprised at just how many parents would come in and pick this up for the entire family. Hell, these were the people that I couldn't convince to watch THE DARK CRYSTAL because they thought it was too dark. Yet allowing their children to see Sean Young ripped of her clothing and revealed to be a pre-op was "okelie dokelie"?
I worry about the sanity of the world.
The movie is funny, don't get me wrong. It was the defining moment in Jim Carrey's career, made before he was garnering multi-million dollar paychecks to splash around on screen making a fool of himself and allowing the industry to typecast him into oblivion.
Ace is a pet detective (gee, really?) who is hired by the Miami Dolphins to find a missing dolphin before the next Super Bowl (or some other such sports thingy). Carrey wanders around, spreading his butt cheeks to communicate with that brilliant actor Tone Loc and even does the completely unthinkable: beds down Courtney Cox. Well, it WAS before she became hyphenated, so I suppose it's not all THAT bad.
(I just noticed the note that said if I give away any info that I'm supposed to state a warning. Um... Spoiler indicators are lame.)
Carrying on...
Yeah, good movie. Funny movie. Great movie to watch under the influence. Not that I would know anything about that. I'm merely guessing. I swear.

Yeah, suuuuure you're just guessing! MmmmHmmmm...
I laughed my ass off at this flick when I first saw it and honestly didn't know Jim Carrey had even been in any movies prior to this one...I can just imagine how much I'd laugh now...under the influence...as you put it...haha. |
