Written by The Man

How could I not love this movie? It came from the brain of one of my favorite peopl, and while Q didn't direct it, his stamp, his style is smeared all over it.

The greatness in this movie is in all of the small performances. While it focused on the situation between Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette's somewhat Bonnie & Clyde characters, you have to appreciate the little roles. Val Kilmer in a muted turn as Elvis, convincing Clarence to go through with his plans, Bronson Pinchot nearly pissing himself because he thinks he's been found out as the drug informant, Michael Rappaport as the dumbsh*t waiter that Clarence and Alabama go to visit, the speech that Dennis Hopper gives about Sicilians, the return speech that Christopher Walken gives, James Gandolfini beating the sh*t out of Alabama and then getting his due for it... oh, and Brad Pitt as a honey bear stoner??

Only Q could pack all of those in there and still be able to accurately claim that this is a romance.

Patricia Arquette received an assload of credit from me for her tough but sexy character here and I hold firm to the belief that this was the best "chick" fight in all of cinema, despite the fact that the other chick was really a guy. If you can be bleeding profusely and still manage to smile and giggle before plunging a corkscrew in a man's foot? Honey, that sheer bad-assed-ness.

A classic movie, through and through.
