Movie Review by Zara
January 30th, 2007

As sweet as the candy bar

Another one of those movies geared toward youth-anizing a classic tale, this version of THE THREE MUSKETEERS features a few of Hollywood's favorite young men (at the time) in the famous roles.

There was a huge chance that this movie could have played out cheesy. Well, it still does. However, I still enjoyed it tremendously. The strength of Demornay in the role of the fallen women is one of my favorite roles that I've seen her in. I really wish she'd been afforded more screentime.

However, it is Sheen as Aramis, the devout of the famous trio, that gets me to giggling even harder. Famously by that point for his hard partying ways, it was a joke to all those who watched the movie and had even an inkling of what his off-screen life was like.

Oliver Platt, while not as young and famous as the other two makes for an excellent Porthos, the overindulgent of the trio. He's long been one of my favorite character actors, adding more weight to the films he's in than just that spare tire he carries around.

I'd be more inclined to give it a higher rating if only it hadn't been the movie that provided us with that Bryan Adams/Sting/Rod Stewart horror that played relentlessly on the radio that year. I need to wrap this review up before it creeps back into my brain and sets its hooks in my gray matter once more.
