On a remote island, a wealthy entrepreneur secretly creates a theme park featuring living dinosaurs drawn from prehistoric DNA. Before opening the attraction to the public, he invites a top paleontologist, a paleobotanist, a mathematician/theorist, and his two eager grandchildren to experience the park -- and help calm anxious investors. However, their park visit is anything but tranquil as the park's security system breaks down, the prehistoric creatures break out, and the excitement builds to surprising results. Based on Michael Crichton's best-selling novel.
I grew up with that one thought in my head that made me believe in dinosaurs. Now that I am older that thought has kind of faded away a little bit, but that little kid still lives inside me somewhere. Every time I watch Jurassic Park, that kid in me comes back and it makes me feel good. Stephen Spielberg is a fantastic director who has a lot of big named blockbusters in his history book including Jaws and Saving Private Ryan. With Jurassic Park, he works along side with Stan Winston (RIP) to create the most realistic dinosaurs to ever be seen in a film. Jurassic Park is fun, scary and action packed. Not to mention one giant rollercoaster ride from start to finish.
For some odd reason, I really seemed to like Sam Neil after seeing this movie. It made me happy to see him again in the sequel and in the prequel to Jurassic Park. His performance as the well known Alan Grant was a fantastic performance. So Jurassic Park doesnt exactly have the best character development ever seen in a movie, but there are moments where it coudlve been suggested and Sam Neil handles all of it great. Laura Dern stars as Ellie Sattler, the smarter one of the group of people who test out this island. She is a caring person who loves kids, and eventually starts trying to help one of the dinosaurs or two. She had a well done performance and I felt as if she was one of the best actresses in the movie who really tried to make the movie good. Jeff Goldblum is an awesome actor as he plays as the mathematician named Ian Malcom. He is kind of the political battle in the movie, as he makes points about our society and why it is wrong to bring back something that is meant to be gone.
The effects and the look of the dinosaurs are one of the greatest looking dinosaurs ever seen in film. Stephen worked right along with effects master Stan Winston to create the puppet that the tyrannosaures rex was. The scariest dinaosaur of the movie were the ferocious raptor and how the character's are so afraid of them.
The scene where the T-Rex breaks through the fence and flips over the jeeps is a scene which I will never forget. After this we lead to events which include a jeep falling down a tree, and other awesome looking action scenes. While Jurassic Park is big on effects and action, the movie never adds up to the character level of things. This dissapointed me a little bit and I kind of felt the movie failed at this part. It wouldve helped if we had an idea about where our characters come from and such.
Jurassic Park is a fantastic movie with huge effects, but short on character. A great movie though.

| I still cant believe it took almost 3 years for someone to post a review of this film seeing that its one of the highest box office grossing films of all time and how big of deal this movie was when it came out. I think people have forgotten about this film, the first time you saw how real those dinosaurs looked everyone was amazed! |
