Movie Review by Jesse
December 14th, 2006

Al Pacino is amazing.

This is one of the best movies of the 1990s. Al Pacino is terrific as the blind, retired lieutenant colonel Frank Slade. One of the best performances I have ever seen; Al Pacino always is great, but this is another level of acting that I haven't seen from him before. He finally won the Oscar for this film after seven nominations. This film has Charlie Simms, a prep school student who is looking for some extra money, going to look after a blind ex-lieutenant. What seems to be an easy job turns out to be Charlie's nightmare. The almost impossible Colonel takes Charlie on a trip to New York City where they dine on delicious meals and stay in luxurious hotels. Lt. Slade reveals his plane to Charlie; he is enjoying his life while he can because at the end of their 'vacation' he is going to blow his brains out. The story is superb and the character development is phenomenal. Chris O'Donnell gives one hell of a breakthrough performance and when he is teamed up with Al Pacino this movie is hard to take your eyes off of. A hilarious and heartwrenching look at how one man can be brought back from depression and have a whole new look on life. My favourite film of 1992 and quite possibly one of my favourite films ever. Watch this movie, I recommend it to everyone. Hoo-hah!
