Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 9th, 2007

An (Almost) All-Male Musical for the Ladies

Over a decade before he was Batman, Christian Bale was leader of the 'Newsies'. This modern musical set in the Depression when a group of newsboys striked against William Randolph Hearst (Robert Duvall), it often lame, and sometimes super-cheesy, but it tries so hard to be loved you can hardly resist it.
(Fun Fact: In 9th grade, my dorm did an all-girl production with a dude in the Ann-Margret role and I played Crutchie)
Great dancing, is there anything like a large group of boys dancing, methinks not?
Sure it is certainly not an award-winner, but Bale makes me fall in love with him everytime.
Something for the ladies.
