Rewatch it

People seem to really adore this movie. So much so that they created and named a professional NHL team after the movie. In reality, it's a light weight Disney flick that isn't really as great as the memories.

I think was irritates me the most about this movie is how quickly Estevez's character goes from being a complete douchbag to having learned his lesson. Granted, they would have had to have gotten that done in the alloted 90 minutes, but it still seems so quick and forced. To me, if a guy had become a mean and calloused lawyer, no group of hooligan kids is going to change him overnight. No matter how much he wants to f*ck one of their mothers.

And what's up with that? If you're a single mom of a pre-teen boy, raise your hand and tell me how easily he deals with you getting a date. Reality, this is not. I understand that it's just a movie, but that's one of those things in life that I just can't overlook, not even in film.

But I will say this: the movie introduced us to Elden Henson (the big kid who can shoot but not skate). I honestly wish that he was in more and am saddened that Hollywood couldn't figure out a place to put him. If you've ever watched THE MIGHTY, you'll understand what I'm talking about here.

Once again, another shining example of nostalgia winning over the hearts. Watch it again and tell me what you think.

I just might do that, I was almost 13 when this hit the theatre and I loved it.
