Martin Riggs finally meets his match in the form of Lorna Cole, a beautiful but tough policewoman. Together with Roger Murtaugh, his partner, the three attempt to expose a crooked former policeman and his huge arms racket. The crooked cop (Jack Travis) thwarts them at every turn, mainly by killing anyone who is about to talk, but Murtaugh has personal problems of his own as his family are brought into the equation.
Lethal Weapon 3, directed by Richard Donner, is weaker then the previous two installment. So far the worst of the series, it is funny and has some action here and there, but seems to lack something which made the first two great. It seems as if Richard Donner wanted to create more of a story then an action packed movie which was the first two. Danny Glover and Mel Gibson are still great together as the unstoppable team, even though problems begin to arise they are still funny together. Richard's directing is still great even though there is less action, its still pretty cool.
Danny Glover and Mel Gibson are always great together when they play in the Lethal Weapon films and there is no lack to their relationship here. Even though the first two movies were fine when it came to their friendship, but Lethal Weapon 3 gets personal. As problems begin to erupt when it comes to Murtaughs life. Basically he shoots one of his sonds friends and ends up killing him. He knows the kid so he puts the blame on himself and begins drinking. While Riggs is out with a girl he likes, Roger is getting drunk. This becomes an emotional scene between the two of them and puts a gap in their relationship. Danny Glover is funnier and they continue to make some really lame decisions but he handles the emotional level greatly. Also Mel Gibson gets a little bit more serious when it comes to his newly found love life but he still plays the smart ass and he keeps the laugh coming. Joe Pesci plays a larger part in here then before, but he is a funny little guy who starts a lot of funny stuff.
Richard Donner does a better job with his directing and the films script written by Jeffrey Boam and Robert Kamen. As the movie gets more serious the script does a great job with handling the humor and personal scenes together with the help of emotion. Basically our characters get tired of eachother and they argue but when things hit home, their life and careers are put at stake. I seem to see that the characters get more serious of the movies continue on in the franchise and I really felt like the movies were getting better with the help of this.
There is actually less action here then the other two, but when the action comes it really hits home. The opening car chase scene is really good and begins the film with greatness. The end action scene is huge when it came to big explsions and killing a lot of people. The last action scene is shot in a construction yard as they fight around a wood structure. Riggs gets angry and then he becomes crazier and crazier with every minute. He gets into a truck, leaks the gas and drives around. Soon he throws a match of sort and lights the trail on fire which leads to a huge explosion. The opening scene with the building explosion is reall cool to.
Lethal Weapon 3 is cool, but its slower and doesn seem to compare to the others. It is fun and cool though.
