Movie Review by Terrence

You can never have too much faith

'Leap of Faith' when it was first released was a box office disappointment.

Starring Steve Martin has a faith healer who travels through small towns shelling out his own brand of 'JESUS' Martin cons many into believing what he's got to sell.

'Faith Healing' especially if you grew up in the South has always had this weird place in society.

This movie was probably a few years too late after all the televangelists controveries which probably hurt it in the end.

I really enjoyed this one. It was very true to who faith healers or at least the not-so-honest ones were and are. And lets face it, most of them are the not-so-honest kind. And it had humor!

I'm with you, I really enjoyed this one when it first came out. I haven't seen it for ages tho, but I do remember Meatloaf being in it.

Oh yeah, I do remember Meatloaf! He's made some odd little appearances here and there in movies.

I liked this movie, but it definitely was one of those movies that was hard to peg. Not entirely a comedy and not quite a drama. I did really like Debra Winger in it.

I thought it was cool that it explored how "Christians" take advantage of poor people by leading them on.......if only it was more of a drama.....but there is some really funny parts in it.

The 'Christians' remark is a bit of a generalization but I think I get what you are saying.

Religion is a great tool (generally speaking) in keeping the masses in check. But it doesn't always workout that way.

Well reality is that religion is used to fraud people everyday....wether it be Christians or any other type of religion.... and it was nice to see some of the truth in a film.

The aren't alot of movies that deal with religion on those terms so I'd have to agree with you. It can be kind of refreshing.
