Cruise and Kidman

I really did love this ridiculous love story back in the day. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, real-life spouses at the time, star as star-crossed lovers trying to find their way to the new America.

This film is melodramatic and entirely self-serious, but you can see a certain sparkle in Kidman that will later turn her into an award-winning superstar who rivals her now ex-husband's own star power.

Lame Irish accents and poverty, but love conquers all.
