Dead Alive (1992)

Equally well-known as BRAINDEAD, Peter Jackson's gore-comedy splatters across the screen with the glee of a child that's just been given 50 gallon drums of fake blood. When a bizarre rat-monkey is brought to a New Zealand zoo, it opens the doors to a zombie epidemic of mass proportions! Newly romancing lovebirds Lionel and Paquita are on a date at the zoo, to view the new rat-monkey, when Lionel's mum is bitten by it when she gets too close. The bite soon turns her into a decaying zombie, who begins to infect the town. As more and more people become infected, Lionel has a harder time concealing the truth. At a party Lionel is having, the zombies finally break loose from their basement prison. Now Lionel, along with Paquita, and his womanizing Uncle Les must face down against the zombies once and for all! Jackson's no-holds-barred style is on a tour-de-force here, and is simply a must see. Rev up the lawnmower, prepare to kick ass for the Lord and stand up to your mum.
