down the road and over the hill we go
Out of 21 nomination, this film pulled 12 wins. An impressive total for what was a superbly written tale of two women who just want to go off on an adventure. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis were remarkable in their roles as girls who just wanted to have fun and get away from the strict confines of daily life. Who among us doesn't desire the same thing? Things go wrong, the meet a jerk (brad Pitt), and they can't go back to normal. That's when it really gets interesting and fun. I never tire of this film and watch it over and over. It is an outstanding feminist caper that shows the importance of bonding and friendship. It was also a welcome variation on the standard road picture or the usual male-dominated buddy flick.
