The Mummy's Hand (1940)

I WANT MY MUMMY!
Back in ancient times, say, between 1940-1944 (while World War II raged away at full-steam in Europe) UNIVERSAL STUDIOS in Hollywood, USA churned out 4 equally wretched 'Mummy' movies. What a brainstorm! These movies were - THE MUMMY'S HAND, THE MUMMY'S TOMB, THE MUMMY'S GHOST, THE MUMMY'S CURSE and THE MUMMY'S MOMMY. Ooops! I think I got one too many Mummies in there. But, hey, with such lame movie titles as these 4 had I think you get a pretty good picture of how much imagination went into making these flicks.
If you can believe it, the predictable plot in each and every one of these dreary, little movies is, literally, identical. Other than a slight variation on the theme, the only real way to tell the difference between these 4 movies is by taking note of the cast. As you'll notice, not one actor ever made an appearance for a second time in any of the other 3 Mummy movies. Thank goodness for that!
The wafer-thin plot in all 4 of these flicks revolves around your typical Mummy-Stuff set in modern times......A High-Priest's (or similar type's) revenge, centuries-old incarnation, mummy ressurection by Tanna leaves, mummy goes on a murderous rampage, mummy grabs 'supposedly' incarnated girl (always a babe), mummy gets destroyed, and then (guess what!?) everyone else lives happily ever after. Yawn-City! Especially when it's done with such a lack of atmosphere and conviction as these 4 were done.
Even if you combined together all the best elements from each one of these 4 terrible flicks you still wouldn't come even close to the sheer brilliance and terror of the original 'MUMMY' from 1932. It starred BORIS KARLOFF and it's a Classic that holds up well, even by today's hi-tech standards, nearly 80 years later.
Don't be fooled by these 4 ultra-cheap imitations! They're an absolute disgrace to the world of Mummy-dom and, not to mention, the Pharaohs of Rah.
