Movie Review by Lauren
June 4th, 2007

Creepy as hell.

COUNSELOR? COULD YOU BE THERE?

I've been saying that for a week, so I decided to write a review for the movie that caused this madness.
This movie follows a convict, Max Cady, as he goes out seeking revenge on the lawyer who defended him 14 long years ago.
Before he went into Jail, Max had been arrested for rape and it's told in the move that he couldn't read, but as he learned to read during his sentence, and as time went along he learned to no longer need his lawyer, so he was representing himself, he discovered that his lawyer had left out crucial evidence that could have at least gotten Max a shorter sentence.
Max is a souther bible thumper, so he's quoting the bible all over the place.

The movie is great, I'm not a huge fan of Juliette Lewis, but she did a really good job in this movie as the lawyers 16 year old daughter.

Robert De Niro, as creepy as his character is, was in GREAT physical shape, and it kind of scared me that I thought he was so cute, but he's such a scary guy in this movie.

This movie is just a great great film, there were a couple points where I got frustrated with the characters, and even, at one point, threw my water bottle at the television.
But it's a really good movie, check it out sometime. De Niro is really such a versatile actor, and he really shows his skills that pay the bills in this flick.

I loved that they Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck from the original movie were cast.....I urge you to check out the original I think Mitchum did a way better job than DeNiro.

I actually want to check out the original, this one was the first one available to me though.

I stumbled accross the original a few months back and was shocked at how great it was considering it was made way back in the 60's, and Robert Mitchum as Max was super creepy.

Good review! I think this movie is great in its own right, partly because of the performances you mentioned, and also due to the added depth given to the characters portrayed by Nick Nolte and Jessica Lange. With this cast, and Scorcese directing, it really had little chance of being even remotely bad.
