What's this
Aliens (Alien part 2) is probably in my top 5 films of all time. Alien 3 is NOT in my top 500. Its not a horrible film but after Aliens it was very hard for them to continue the series and try to out perform the previous film.
What I didn't like.......Lets start from the beginning........Michael Biehn was killed before ever getting to speak and that did not work for me because I really like him and his character from Aliens. I really liked the fact that Newt was killed in the crash because she annoyed me from part 2. Bishop (the android) sort of got on my nerves as well so that part was fine with me.
The biggest mistake this film made was NO WEAPONS.....After inventing some of the coolest "movie guns" of all time for Aliens....how can you go to nothing at all but torches to defend yourself against the Alien. I don't know what they were thinking but that seems to be one of the biggest complaints from everyone that is a fan of the series.
The whole prison theme was OK but it was not anything to get excited about. I thought Charles S. Dutton was the best part of the movie, he delivered the only memorable lines and his character was the most likeable of the bunch. I remember even back when this film was in the news how they world was going crazy at how much they had to pay Sigourney Weaver to not only do this film but to shave her head for the film. I really don't think her shaving her head made the film any better or anymore believable.
Basically this shows you how quickly a series can get screwed up. The script is just horrible and to me would have been so easy to come up with something better. They pretty much copied the ending straight from Terminator 2....just with different circumstances.
Anyway's I still watch this film every once in a while......it has a few good scenes and some funny parts. Its not exactly what I would call action packed but if nothing else in on I would say go for it.
