You Rannnng?

Based on the popular TV show of the same name, you'd think this movie would have sucked more. Most of what gets translated from the small screen to the large one suffers in the transition. This one seemed to thrive.

OK, so I don't have a lot to go on based on the fact that I've only watched a handful of the TV episodes. I will tell you that watching Julia and Huston drool over one another as the matriarch and patriarch of the family, dancing, kissing and generally making like they're ready to tear off one another's clothing is a sheer delight. I don't think they could have gotten better casting in their case.

Christina Ricci also solidified her goth-like early years by playing the dismal Wednesday, stealing the show in many of her scenes with her dead face delivery, sparking many of the emo girls and boys of current day to grab their black liner and spend hours in the bathroom getting it just right.

The movie is fun and filled with crazy little props, alive in a set that seems to emphasize death. It is cartoonish and silly at times as well, but that's part of what makes it so much fun.

I liked Christina Ricci in Mermaids but I was really impressed with her in this film.
