Great MILF action
I would not have appreciated this movie as much as I did watching it today if I'd watched it when I was younger and had less life experience. While a lot of the romance that goes on in the film is dated by its late '80's, early '90's veneer, as well as being a little hokey at times with its constant references to Marilyn Monroe, it's still a really good tale of the older chick cashing in on the young stud.
The sex isn't even a central focus of the movie even though that's what the cover art (poster art) would lead you to believe. While that's prominent in the beginning, after it's gotten out of the way most of the movie focuses on the problems that arise in a relationship between a blue collar older woman and white collar younger Jewish guy.
The attraction between Spader and Sarandon is good and there are some fun additions with the side characters, although I've never really cared for Jason Alexander or the smarmy roles that he has always seemed to inhabit. The guy could be the nicest person in real life and I wouldn't believe it because he plays an a**hole a little too well.
This was a good movie to watch on a leisurely Sunday afternoon. This would also be good for those lonesome nights that some MILFs have on the solitary weekends in general. It's sexy without being trashy and romantic without being overly sappy. Plus it has that "it could really happen" feel to it, which automatically makes it much better than the other romances out there today.
