This is quite possibly my favorate Rocky movie of them all.
Rocky V revisits that heroic boxer Rocky Balboa following his fight in Russia. He returns to his estate only to find that due to unfortunate circumstances, Rocky has no choice but to give up nearly all his possessions. This means loosing the house, the cars, the lifestyle. And so Rocky, Adrien and their son Robert return to the alleys of Philidelphia where Rocky grew up. The times are rough but the family tries to remain together through it all. Rocky promises to be a better father. Enter Tommy Gunn, an aspiring boxer looking for a chance. Rocky takes Tommy under his wing and trains him. Rocky's son goes through great resentment toward his father who pays more attention to Tommy than Robert. It isn't long before Tommy gets greedy and is corrupted by the darker side of the boxing business. Tommy abandons Rocky but still can't get away from the title of "Rocky's Puppet." And so Tommy challenges Rocky to one last fight which Rocky reluctantly accepts and the fight happens in the most unlikely of places...the streets.
Perhaps what appeals to me most about this movie is that it truly is unlike the other Rocky movies in that the focus can be pulled much more exclusively on Rocky's personal life and family life. This causes the story to be much more interesting and Rocky becomes more of a sympathetic character than ever before. The only part that confused me is at the end of Rocky IV, Rocky's son looked to be about six or seven yet in Rocky V, which is DIRECTLY following ROCKY IV, the boy has magically become about thirteen...but I let it go after awhile. The ending fight probably got plenty of negative response being that it isn't in a boxing ring but the setting appealed so much more to Rocky's character, that he has returned to the old ways when life was ultimately better, and his fighting style returns to that brute street-fighting he knew so well. I could see and feel the heart of the fight and the emotion put into every swing and the fight truly had me on the edge of my seat. Very good movie and very fantastic performance from Sylvester Stallone. A movie I know i will return to.

| See I feel the complete opposite, for me this was the boil on the testicle of the Rocky franchise and yet another reason why athletes shouldn't act. Needless to say I hated this one alot. |
