Night of the Living Dead

Everybody that has some sort of knowledge in the film industry understands that George A Romero = Zombie Quadrilogy. Spanning over 4 decades he has given us Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Day and eventually Land of The Dead. All comments on different social aspects themselves (Racism, commercialism/consumerism, Facism/Erosion of society and Wideing gaps social classes) and eventually one day or another some director had to start over again and try to recreate of (finger's crossed for them) make a better version.

Basically the story of The Night of the Living Dead is a group of people are trying their damn hardest to fight off the Zombies which are rapidly growing by the hour. It is set in a secluded farmhouse. The film isn't all about the Zombies however as when these strangers are grouped together it makes worse tension and argument than if you fart in a panic room.

This remake follows the storyline near enough to the orgininal except for the 90's the decade of political correctness. The female heroine is portrayed much stronger (not too much off the Alien films) and the black male has a more inflencial role than in the original classic. It helps that all the original crew emmbers were involved in the film (obviously directing duties were passed onto Tom Savini) so no cinematic boundries were crossed when trying to bring The Night of the Living Dead for another generation.

Overall it's not really a film you can complain too much about. It's not the worse remake ever made (although I could name a few) and it does what it says on the tin. It or any of the other remakes will ever gather as much social recognition and controversy the 2nd time round. That I beleive is one of the main attraction of the original quadrilogy aside from the fact that at the end of the day when you go to the cinema to see a horror flick, you just want to be totally grossed out.
