Gay Directors know hot to make musicals

A tongue-in-cheek musical about young love between a good girl and a bad boy back in the era of greasers and preps, CRY BABY was an original that came before its time.

Directed in oddball John Waters fashion after he'd put together a similar and vastly more successful film with HAIRSPRAY, CRY BABY follows a motorcycle punk (Johnny Depp) who falls in love at first sight with a good little girl (Amy Locane, someone I wish we could see more of).

Also starring Ricki Lake, one of Waters' favorite go-to girls, Traci Lords, the former porn star (who married one of the technicians from the set) and the formidable Iggy Pop, the movie is light weight, silly and fun as hell. Everything is pure kitch factor and the actors all look like they're having a really good time.

After working in a video store and being forced to watch repeated viewing of GREASE (not that I hate it, but when you watch it every day, five days a week for months, even a fan would start to vomit at the mere mention of its title), I can honestly say that I would have preferred that CRY BABY was the movie on repeat.

"Gay Directors know hot to make musicals" for as much crap as you give me on my spelling and grammar you should fire your editor!

Well, there's a difference between improper grammar and spelling where it clearly demonstrates the person using it doesn't know it's wrong... and a person who makes a typo or two after writing more than 150 reviews freestyle. (As in, no Word.)

I'm just sayin'...
