I'm Going to Run Me Down Some Caucasians Today
I've been rewatching a lot of the movies that I liked when I was younger but haven't seen in a long while. Sadly, many of them are proving to be better as fond memories. I was a more than a little skeptical when I popped this disc into the player this afternoon. I liked the movie a lot when I was a teenager and didn't really want it to turn out like the others.
It didn't. While there are portions where the movie drags (mainly between the romance of Moore and Hannah, I've never quite been all that fond of the really old dude with the young chick angle) the majority of it is just as funny as I remembered it. I managed to retain some of the funny lines from when I was younger, in particular the reference to the fictitious movie "The Freak" which ends up with the best tagline for a horror movie EVER. Gladly, there were actually some really great moments that I'd forgotten and was able to rediscover.
This movie is rated R solely due to the fact that the word f*ck is used more than once. It is free of nudity, free of violence and free of most other toilet humour (there is a reference to a hand job and a reference to "getting laid"). I consider it to be a good family flick for the families who aren't so afraid of a little foul language. The word f*ck isn't used in a menacing manner. It's just a punctuator for certain circumstances.
As a major sidenote, David Paymer is f*cking fantastic in this. My Midget has requested that she get to make her own "Hello" box and I am all about making that happen for her this weekend.
Hello... hello... hello... :)
