Movie Review by Tim

Sequels that suck volume 1.

Favorite Movie Quote: "Let me tell you something, Jack. If sh*t was worth something, poor people would be born with no a**hole."

Another 48 Hours is a film that I wish I could go back in time and remake myself. I am an avid fan of the first film titled 48 Hours, I think its one of the classic 80's "buddy-cop" films that never gets old. However the sequel lacks that certain vibe between the main characters that made the first one so damn entertaining.

Here is where I feel the mistake was made. At the end of 48 Hours you as the audience know that Reggie (Murphy) is getting out of jail in about 6 months. However now this film takes place almost 5 years later and he is just now getting out. It is barely explained why, something about the prison payroll getting robbed and found in Reggie's cell. So now Reggie of course is pissed off at Jack because in 5 years he has not came by one time to visit and after their first adventure Reggie thought Jack was his friend.

So the whole bonding experience they went through in the first film was completely thrown out the window in this and they start from scratch. Almost giving the vibe that this is not a sequel but yet another remake / version of the first film. It is aggravating because you feel as if the story has just changed pace way too much since the first installment.

Besides that the next biggest problem I have is the enemies. They are just over the top. I know real bikers that are part of real motorcycle "gangs" and the are tough hombres but the way that bikers are portrayed in films like this or "Stone Cold" is just absurd. Bikers look rough and tough but most are business men that understand what NOT to do to attract the law. These guys went around flashing guns at waitresses and all kinds of sh*t without flinching even after they had just shot some cops dead.

The acting from the bad guys as well was just horrible. Also the film is just filled with minor and large plot holes which after you see this film a couple of times you will start to pick up on them more and more. You will feel betrayed as an audience member that they couldn't come up with better and more believable ideas.

My BIGGEST problem with this film is..... Did they copy the entire score from Commando?? The score by composer James Horner is the SAME...and this came out only 5 years afterwards as if everyone had forgotten about the music in Arnie's action hit.

Bottom Line: This film for some reason reels you in to watch it several times a year. You as a film lover will know in your mind that the film is pretty bad and a complete disappointment from the first film but its still a decent film to watch.
