Movie Review by Seth

And Weird Al Never Starred in a Movie Again.

You know, I use to love this movie when I was younger. That was until I really started taking films seriously. I am a big Weird Al fan. And I like this movie, I just wanted to see more. Of course it has it's great unforgettable moments, but having seen it so many times, there seem to be more faults than up sides.

First of all, a Weird Al movie is a great idea. However, writing Al in as the straight man is kind of rediculous. He is continuously upstaged by Michael Richards, Billy Barty, and Kevin McCarthy that's it's just lame. Also, Weird Al looks horrible in this. I always think it's funny that Al looks better now than he did when he was in his early 30s. Also, the premise is about a UHF station, which don't exist anymore but they were still pretty obsolete in 1989. So if you're younger than 30, or you grew up with cable, you may want to do a little research on UHF stations before you watch.

Bottom line- this movie is great for Weird Al fans or anyone who just loves a good ol' 80s comedy.

It's a cult classic. Many times these kinds of movies people watch once and then develop a nostalgic feeling about, forgetting what it was that they liked about it in the first place. Me personally, I always liked the movie for Richards and not for Weird Al. It saddened me when he was on Seinfeld. I wanted Stanley Spadowski back.
