Red face Commando film being remade or revamped...

Commando was what you settled for if Rambo wasnt on the TV. It was an early film for Arnold Schwarzenegger being that it debuted in 1985. It also houses one of the biggest movie bloopers of all time being the porche that magically fixes itself everytime it is wrecked.

A remake could be awesome if they cast it correctly.

here is what is being report

20th Century Fox has decided to move forward with plans to make a unnecessary remake of the 1985 classic Arnold Schwarzenegger action film Commando, because for some reason they can't come up with an original action film concept. The studio has hired David Ayer to write and direct the remake of the film that put helped launch Schwarzenegger's superstar career.

Ayer is a pretty talented guy that might be able to make a decent remake of Commando. He's a former soldier who served in the Navy, and he ended up writing the incredible Denzel Washington film Training Day, and then went on to direct Harsh Times and Street Kings.

According to Deadline "He will put his own real-world spin on this original premise: a retired elite special forces operative sees his daughter kidnapped and is told she’ll die unless he gets on a plane and kills the rival of a nasty exiled dictator. In the original, Schwarzenegger jumped off the plane before takeoff, and killed everyone involved in the kidnap plot, in a real beefcake turn that followed Terminator. Ayer’s protagonist will be less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry. Hopefully the new version will hang onto some of the fun spirit of the original."

Hollywood proves time and time again that they lack any kind of imagination. It's always been hard for me to get behind movie remakes, especially with movies that I like, and I really enjoyed the original Commando! Sure it's cheesy now, but it's a fun action packed movie of badassery! I'm sure the remake will be entertaining, and there's a possibility that it could actually be a good quality film, but it definitely won't have the same feel and effect as the original.

What are your thoughts on Commando getting the remake treatment?

Default Commando

Do you really think COMMANDO was generic enough to plop another actor in the part? I'd have a hard time not seeing Arnie in all his overly muscled, bulbous glory manning the bazooka or holding a lackey by his ankles over a building.

Of course, I've been wrong before, so it'll be - "let's see."

I agree....but Predator 2 was doomed to fail for the same reason yet Danny Glover stepped in and did a decent job (hence...yes..he didnt play the character of Dutch.)

The Rock should be commando or vin diesel

I dunno - ever since Sanaa Lathan took out the Mother Alien with practically her bare hands even after the Predator failed (ALIENS vs PREDATORS), anyone after her is going to be a tough act to follow.

Vin Diesel is short (6') compared to Arnie (6'2") and The Rock (6'3"). You want someone who threatening-looking enough, try Matthew Willig (6'8"), a relative unknown, done some TV and was in YEAR ONE (yeah, I watched it..). Oh year - he's that BIG guy in the Hall's commercial. He's big, he's mean-looking, he's got... enough ...acting chops to get by.

I just read that David Ayer's (the writer) version of the character "will be less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry."

That definitely smacks of Vin Diesel!
