John Carpenterís HALLOWEEN is hands down my favorite horror movie of all time as it had a profound affect on me as a child and kickstarted my love for the genre in a way that Iíll remember forever. The film was re-released into theaters back in 2006 and Iíll never forget how excited I was to see the legendary horror flick on the big screen for the first time! It was one of the best moviegoing experiences Iíve ever had and with the 35th Anniversary of its original 1978 release right around the corner, October will see Michael Myers make his return to the big screen yet again!
Today, the re-release trailer has made its way online, with HALLOWEEN set to begin its limited theatrical run on October 25. Co-written and directed by Carpenter, the film stars Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, and P.J. Soles among others. It tells the story of a psychotic murderer whoís institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister. He later escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets of Haddonfield. The complete list of theaters and showtimes participating in the re-release can be found here but unfortunately for those overseas, itís for U.S. residents only.
Plot: The year is 1963, the night: Halloween. Police are called to 43 Lampkin Ln. only to discover that 15 year old Judith Myers has been stabbed to death, by her 6 year-old brother, Michael. After being institutionalized for 15 years, Myers breaks out on the night before Halloween. No one knows, nor wants to find out, what will happen on October 31st 1978 besides Myersí psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis. He knows Michael is coming back to Haddonfield, but by the time the town realizes it, itíll be too late for many people.
