James will become famous soon enough
Default Doom Patrol

I just bought/read the first trade paperback of Grant Morrison's Doom patrol and my god. I've heard about Grant being out there, but this was INSANE. I loved it a lot.

Also, at the end, he writes how the works of Kenneth Anger, Jan Svankmajer and Maya Deren all kind of helped him create the world of Doom Patrol. This got me thinking on how a movie of the comic would be created. And then got me thinking of how surrealist/experimental films aren't really ever in the public view.

Then I remembered that The Fall is coming out. And I got happy: here's a trailer:

Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol was great, no argument there, but I am a huge fan of the second Doom Patrol team written by John Arcudi and penciled by Tan Eng Huat. The first team was more existential like Jack Kirby's take on Nick Fury in the 60s. I am a bigger fan of how Arcudi turned it into a comedy like the movies Mystery Men and The Specials. Once John Byrne took over, it turned back into a serious series and I lost interest. Do the Arcudi/Huat era Doom Patrol movie and I will be a very happy dork.
