Default Full Cast Revealed For KICKBOXER Reboot

Full Cast Revealed For KICKBOXER Reboot

With Georges St. Pierre (CAPTAIN AMERICA: The WINTER SOLDIER), Dave Bautista (Marvelís GUARDIANS of the GALAXY) and long-time stuntman Alain Moussi (X-MEN: DAYS of FUTURE PAST) already set to star, Scott Adkins (The EXPENDABLES 2) and Tony Jaa (ONG BAK) have joined the cast of the upcoming 3D reboot of the 1989 martial arts actioner KICKBOXER. The film will be directed by Stephen Fung (TAI CHI ZERO). Radar Pictures and The Exchange will be collaborating on the project which features a script by Jim McGrath and Dimitri Logothetis.

The original Bangkok-set pic, which was directed by Mark DiSalle and David Worth starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Westerner Kurt Sloane, a cornerman who trains in Muay Thai to avenge his brotherís crippling at the hands of a brutal Thai kickboxing champ. This updated version will also follow brothers David and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a California dynasty of champions. After David wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong despite his brotherís protests. When David dies, Kurt turns to his former mentor Xian Chow to seek revenge on the viscous Tong Po.

The film will be produced by Logothetis and Nick Celozzi. Mike Weber and Peter Meyer will executive produce as well as Brian OíShea, Jeff Bowler and Nat McCormick. This is the third such Van Damme vehicle set to get the remake treatment as TIMECOP and BLOODSPORT are also in the works. The first KICKBOXER grossed $40.2M worldwide during its theatrical run and was followed by four sequels, 1991′s KICKBOXER 2: the ROAD BACK (which was co-written by Van Damme), KICKBOXER 3: the ART OF WAR (1992), KICKBOXER 4: the AGRESSOR (1994) and KICKBOXER 5: the REDEMPTION (1995).
