Hawks (1989)

Two cancer patients in remission--a London solicitor and an American
semi-pro football player--head for Amsterdam in a "borrowed" ambulance
("Hawks require no permission from the pigeons"), visit a notorious
whorehouse, and risk love one last time. With a terrific ensemble cast,
nice locations, and a bittersweet, smart script, "Hawks" is one of the
most unwatched of Britain's great "little films." Popular in the UK, it
sadly has never found an audience in the US, and can be fiendishly
difficult to find, but it generously repays the effort. See it when
your spirits need a lift.
