My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988)

The title pretty much says it all, folks: A beauteous E.T. cozies up to an eccentric scientist (a disarmingly straight Dan Ackroyd) in an attempt to save her dying planet and falls in love in the process. Much wackiness ensues. Art it ain't, but this likably lightweight film does deliver the laughs, with assured leading performances (for once, Kim Basinger's formica loveliness is utilized as an effective comedic asset), a surprisingly bawdy sense of humor, and a riotous supporting turn by a then dewy-fresh Jon Lovitz. Everyone wants to talk about Alec and Kim and what they are doing as parents, but is any of it really our business? No.
However, our business IS watching and reviewing their movies without attaching any bias based on what we know about their personal lives. This was a movie that made me think that Basinger was a cute...

Well, Darlings - Here we go again - Kim Basinger plays Celeste Martin, the 'Dumbest-Bimbo-Of-An-Alien' to ever set foot on the face of this goddamn planet.
This 'so-called' Sci-Fi/Romance/Comedy was obviously geared to totally capitalize on Basinger's chilling facade of beauty. (And at every opportunity it did just that)...
